Meet the instructor: 

Paige Lukac (she/her) is a 200hr Vinyasa Yoga Teacher. After a few years of practicing, Paige decided to become a teacher to share the benefits of yoga. Through yoga with Paige, you’ll discover the foundations of asana(postures) and breath(pranayama) as well as grounding. Paige is Reiki Level 2 certified and brings elements of relaxation and nurturing throughout the yoga class.

The symposium will bring change makers to the table with other industry leaders who are leading the charge to make sure the workplace is not only inclusive in its policies and procedures, but also a safe space for difficult conversations through the use of employee resource groups, a diverse environment through equitable recruiting practices, and a space that combats the effects of burnout created by non-inclusive work practices.

Join us for a day dedicated to advancing mental health awareness, education, and resources. This event is intended for anyone (caregivers, mental health providers, individuals living with mental illness, and more!) to focus on mental health education, support, and reimagining mental health across the lifespan. 

TEC will be presenting a breakout workshop about the state of Trans mental healthcare. This workshop will explore the unique challenges faced by transgender individuals within mental health care settings. Focusing on issues of isolation, discrimination, and mistreatment, we will examine how systemic biases, lack of cultural competency, and structural barriers impact the quality of care provided to trans patients. Attendees will gain insight into the lived experiences of trans individuals, understand the intersectionality of mental health and gender identity, and explore actionable strategies for creating more inclusive and supportive environments in mental health facilities. By fostering awareness and open dialogue, this session aims to empower mental health professionals to advocate for and implement policies that promote safety, dignity, and respect for transgender individuals in care settings.

This November 20th, we invite you to gather in a heartfelt tribute to honor the lives lost to anti-trans violence. Our candlelit vigil will serve as a safe space for reflection, remembrance, and resilience. Together, we will read aloud the names of those we’ve lost so they may rest in power while we stand in solidarity and recognition, vowing to work towards a future where anti-trans violence ends. 

In a spirit of community, we encourage attendees to share a few words of love, remembrance, or support for the Trans lives that inspire us. As a poignant symbol of our collective commitment to honor their memory, we will release a biodegradable wreath into the water, a symbol of both our grief and our enduring hope for a future where all can live authentically and free.

This event is a safe space for both gender diverse individuals and also allies. Let us come together in a spirit of compassion and unity as we remember not just the pain of loss, but the power of love and community. Together, we will shine a light of hope in the darkness.

Understanding financial management can provide security and resilience in a world that often imposes unique challenges on marginalized communities. By gaining financial knowledge, you can better navigate systemic barriers, plan for your future, and create a sense of empowerment that enhances your well-being. 

During this engaging session, we will cover key topics tailored specifically for the trans and non-binary community, including: starting your financial journey, creating a customized savings plan, and more! You’ll also have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, allowing for personalized advice and discussion.

Nathan Rodriguez (he/him) is TEC's Executive Director. He's been an advocate and public speaker within the Trans Community for over a decade, and will provide information on why these topics are so important for our T+ community, and understanding the unique struggles that the community has with building equity.

Denise Vazquez (she/her) is the Branch Manager/AVP with Regions Bank, and Nashville DEI Co-Chair. She has been in banking for 23 years, and will provide an extensive, comprehensive breakdown on how to start your journey to financial stability and freedom.
